Infrastructure approval / Testing

From tracks to overhead lines, from construction to regular inspections – we offer the services you need.

The ever-increasing requirements placed on infrastructure (higher speeds, higher axle loads, more traffic on the line) continuously necessitate innovative solutions that must be implemented, tested and approved accordingly.

The products:

Functional testing is carried out following construction of new track installations and upgrading of existing ones. These test runs are carried out using local vehicles or ICE-S (300 km/h) or VT 612 reference vehicles (tilting body track sections) of DB Systemtechnik.
The following can be checked and inspected:

  • Trackworks, track geometry
  • Overhead line
  • Aerodynamic characteristics of tunnel constructions
  • Acoustics, vibrations
  • Radio, GSM-R
  • ​ETCS

Overhead lines, trackworks, tilting systems, GSM-R, track-installed switching devices:

  • ​Holistic management of construction designs and your modules throughout the technical life cycle
  • Drafting of technical change descriptions (TCDs) and approval recommendations
  • Condition-based monitoring of systems and modules
  • Assessment of costs and benefits
  • Initiation of supplier development
  • Analyses of irregularities, malfunctions and disturbances, and recommendations for action
  • ​Effect of company-internal approvals
  • Initial examination of the object/initial check of the documents provided
  • Evaluatory inspection and testing
  • Findings (e.g. regarding the functions implemented, output data or operative performance)
  • Presentation of accompanying analyses
  • ​Summary of assessments (including conformity assessments and justification for non-conformity)
  • Consultation on the most cost-effective approaches in line with TSI requirements
  • Management of all activities required for certification
  • Mandated testing from a single source
  • Consultation, planning and control of tests, verifications of quality and certification
  • Execution of required trial tests
  • Coordination of documents and reports for draft planning and type examination
  • Coordination with the notified body for interoperability, assistance in granting special approvals
  • Content-based check and evaluation of documentation
  • Drafting of all required final and evaluatory documentation
  • Quality coordination in the drafting and production phases, performance of quality assurance audits, testing prior to commissioning and validation under operating conditions
  • Presentation and explanation of test reports
