Article: DB Systemtechnik receives ECM I and II certificates
Independent certification body Quality Austria has certified DB Systemtechnik according to Regulation (EU) 2019/779 for the ECM management function (ECM 1) and ECM maintenance development function (ECM 2). Mandatory certification will apply as of 16 June 2022.
(Kirchmöser, 1 February 2022) In mid-January 2022, DB Systemtechnik received ECM 1 and ECM 2 certificates from the independent certification body Quality Austria.
To obtain these certificates, the experts from DB Systemtechnik had to prove their maintenance expertise and provide evidence of an established maintenance management system during a certification audit.
Our ECM expertise – your success:
Benefit from our certifications and our maintenance expertise and come to us with your ECM issues:
- There is nothing more standing in the way of DB Systemtechnik taking over your maintenance development function (ECM 2). This means we are responsible for ensuring that vehicles are in a safe, legally compliant and standardised condition and that they are maintained by means of maintenance tasks.
- We can also take over the complete ECM function for you by working together with partners for the fleet maintenance management function (ECM 3) and maintenance delivery function (ECM 4). With this solution, you transfer responsibility for the safe and legally compliant maintenance of your rail vehicles in all ECM functions.
- At the same time, the expert team from DB Systemtechnik GmbH guides all existing and future ECMs along the path to certification and advises which steps in the certification process are important and which legal issues need to be considered.
16 June 2022 is a very special date for those who are responsible for maintenance in the European rail vehicle sector.
As of this date, the European Regulation (EU) 2019/779 requires all entities in charge of maintenance (ECM) to provide evidence of a functioning and certified maintenance management system.
Mandatory certification previously only applied to freight wagons (Regulation (EU) 445/2011). This was extended to all rail vehicles following a positive assessment of the system (Regulation (EU) 2019/779).
