Article: DB Systemtechnik and UK-based subsidiary DB ESG to deliver independent Quality Assurance for new Piccadilly Line trains
DB Systemtechnik GmbH and its UK-based subsidiary DB ESG have been appointed by Transport for London (TfL) to provide independent quality assurance services for the new Piccadilly Line train fleet.
As part of the Piccadilly Line Upgrade Programme, Siemens Mobility is manufacturing 94 new underground trains. Acting as the appointed Quality Assurance Service Provider, DB ESG will ensure that all processes and deliverables throughout the design, production and testing phases comply with the agreed quality standards.
The scope of work includes continuous inspection and audit activities throughout the manufacturing process. These measures are designed to identify any deviations or defects at an early stage, allowing prompt corrective actions to be implemented and thereby helping to prevent delays and cost overruns.
The experienced DB ESG team in Derby will be supported by experts from DB Systemtechnik. DB Systemtechnik regularly performs similar inspection services for international clients – including at Siemens sites in Vienna and Wildenrath – contributing extensive technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of rolling stock systems and processes.
Christoph Kirschinger, Managing Director Sales at DB Systemtechnik, commented:
“We are very familiar with Siemens Mobility’s production sites, processes and procedures. Our expertise allows us to contribute effectively, ensuring the highest quality standards throughout the project.”
Nick Goodhand, Managing Director of DB ESG, added:
“Having teams based both in the UK and the EU provides significant advantages in terms of local presence, language skills and deep understanding of facilities and production processes. This enables a robust and efficient approach to delivering this project.”
Through this contract, DB Systemtechnik and DB ESG are supporting the modernisation of the London Underground and helping to ensure the reliability, safety and quality of the new Piccadilly Line fleet.
