In the world of railway technology, DB Systemtechnik plays a key role in the creation and continual updating of cross-divisional technical maintenance regulations (ÜTR) for rail vehicles. These regulations define how trains are maintained safely and efficiently. Our work is crucial for ensuring the reliable performance and safety of rail vehicles across the entire DB Group.

We act as stewards of maintenance regulations: As stewards of these technical rules, we coordinate the development and updating of guidelines that affect all DB business units. This is carried out under the responsibility of and in close cooperation with the CTO division of the DB Group. Our experts contribute their technical know-how to ensure that each guideline is complete, accurate, and takes economic impacts into account.

Collaborating for unified standards: Working closely with other DB business units – such as DB InfraGO, DB Cargo, DB Long-Distance, and DB Regio – enables us to define uniform standards within the ÜTR framework. This ensures that every part of Deutsche Bahn operates to the same high-quality standards.

Process guidelines and IT systems: By continuously advancing our process guidelines for vehicle maintenance, we ensure that our standards reflect the latest in safety and technology. A key element of our work is the use of the editorial system DM Cube, where ÜTR maintenance rules are created, edited, and made available to all DB business units. This system forms the backbone of our maintenance processes, enabling workshop staff to work efficiently and safely.

Collaboration and innovation: The RW4.0 working group is driving the further development of the editorial system, always in close coordination with other DB departments. We define requirements and provide support during implementation to ensure the best possible presentation of the maintenance regulations within the system.

Through our work, DB Systemtechnik ensures that vehicle maintenance is carried out efficiently and in line with unified standards. This makes a significant contribution to the safety and reliability of rail vehicles. Our decades of expertise are a key part of that success.
