DB ESG is one of the UK's leading engineering firms in the rail sector, specialising in strategic consultancy, vehicle redesign and complex project delivery. This DB Systemtechnik subsidiary is headed up by General Manager Nick Goodhand and based in Derby. It employs over 50 technical experts committed to delivering complex turnkey projects and supporting rail operators, leasing companies and manufacturers in the process.

Through its sister company Railway Approval (RA), DB ESG is able to offer vehicle authorisations. RA is recognised in the UK as a UK Vehicle Acceptance Body and internationally as a Notified Body for Interoperability.
